This  beautiful little flower is about 8 mm across the top.  To photograph it I placed it into a box which has 5 of its inner surfaces covered in seamless non-reflective velvet.  The other end is open so the flower could be photographed creating a great black background.  Placing the box near a window allows me to move the box and the flower to just the right angle to totally control the way the natural light illuminates the blooms.  A lot of fun during these times of lock down.  5D4 with 100 mm macro at f 22 a few seconds of exposure at ISO 200.

good idea to use non-reflective velvet. I might have to experiment doing something similar during this confinement.

Well done, Ed - your technique has resulted in a most beautiful and striking image! I love the colour of the flower and the black velvet shows it off to perfection.

A must to click on image to show off detail. Beautiful and the setup sounds like it was fun and interesting.
