Long Legged Fly Austrosciapus zentae?
Out in the yard yesterday, lucky to have a decent backyard to escape to during isolation. A long legged fly with prey, captured with the MPE lens at about 2x magnification handheld. The MPE lens is quite challenging not least due to the diameter of the barrel which tends to bump into the leaf the bug is on and limit how close and at what angle you can shoot from. Quite pleased to see this one had prey which also meant it did not scoot off after the first flash it seems. They are so fast they can disappear from frame between pre flash and main flash so I tend to use manual flash for these flies. Prey seems to be some type of aphid or scale insect.
