Splendid White Spider Orchid  Caladenia splendens

Just back from a few days in Perth Western Australia where I was hunting some of the many native orchids that grow there.  This little beauty is the Splendid white spider orchid, the stem is about 30cm long the flower maybe 8-10cm in overall height.

Shot with a telephoto (600mm equivalent focal length) handheld, this is a great technique to shoot orchids like this even in a bit of a breeze as you can hold your shutter speed high enough as you don't need to stop down a lot on the m43 sensor.

Beautiful image of a beautiful flower. Elegant capture of the graceful curving petals.

This is a stunner, Chris!  What a beauty.  I love orchids anyway, they seem to each have their own personality.  :)

What a beauty! Love the way you captured the spidery look- such an interesting orchid. Also interested to see you got this with a telephoto- will have to try that! Thanks!
