I see Rachel has posted the next stage of a Monarch's emergence from it's chrysalis, so this is a few moments after her picture , when the butterfly has an enormous body and tiny wings. It will pump up the wings with huge contractions of the body while hanging on for dear life, literally, to it's shell. If it falls it could be fatal to the soft new body and wings.
