I believe an f16 would be a lot better but the stones behind didn't let me  many choices

Agree. f/16 would have been a better aperture to get adequate dof, but background is also important. Head is very sharp. still a good image.

I think you made the correct aperture choice. With the wings open at this angle, even f/16 wouldn't get the full wing in focus.
