Taken in Michigan's Eastern Upper Peninsula at a burn in the spring. The area was burned the previous fall.  This cicada emerged from its exoskeleton not long before the image was taken.

The cicada is striking against the dark log - a fine and unusual image.

So interesting to see- the log creates a great contrast. Nicely done!
