Lovely image - beautiful subject, fine background and perch.
Chris is right, this kind of image is much easier to get with a longer focal length (150mm, 200mm, or 300mm).

Beautiful image - subject, colors and bg, and the comp. I think I would have instinctually gone vertical, but seeing this I think your interpretation and presentation is spot on.
