Monarch
Danaus plexippus On Goldenrod Livingston Co, MI The thistles went to seed just as the goldenrod came on. This is one of those rare instances where I actually envisioned a shot before going out - but it took several tries. W/ a maximum aperture of 5.6, getting the bg I wanted required a cooperative subject at the right distance. This is close to what I'd pictured in my head. 5DIV 100-400 4.5-5.6 IS L II 1/2,000, f/8 iso 1600 Eval +.33 Hand held, natural light Comments and suggestions always welcome. Edit: While I’m an all around “nature freak”, I’ve not recorded Monarch numbers, but it seems to me that they’re really abundant this year in our area.
