The nymphs of the giant shield bug (Pycanum rubens) undergo several stages of transformation that display different colours from dark red to lighter red, from orange to green before reaching the adult stage. When in season, it is not uncommon to spot 3 or even 4 of them on a Simpoh Air leaf, their host plant. The changing colors of the life of this shield bug created by mother nature is one of the most amazing creatures that I have seen!
