Roseate Skimmer
Orthemis ferrugenia

Hidalgo Co, TX

Although they're "common as dirt" down here, I think they're beautiful.  So often I'm fighting shadows of the wing veins on the thorax, but this guy was perched about 1' off the water, allowing the reflection to act as natural fill.

Beautiful detail from eye to tail. Common? They aren't up here in the northeast at all, so I'm always glad to see a photo of one.

Hi

Wish they were common here lol - a nice shot of this colourful fellow, and the natural fill works well too!

All the best
Matthew
