Excellent detail from wingtip to wingtip, fine exposure.

Hi

A fun subject and a very nice shot - good technique to parallel the subject well and use that limited DOF to best effect

Works for me - a fine view

All the best
Matthew

Wow - what a lovely specimen.
Nice composition and details.
Personally - I would gently blur the bud next to the wingtip and leaves at the top of the frame - but then again - I'm no purist.
Lovely work - congrats.

Nicely done, Craig. I have looked for these guys in the RGV with no luck. Could I ask where in Hidalgo County you found this guy?

Bruce,
This was shot in the North American Butterfly Association's Nat'l Butterfly Center - about a mile east of Bentsen R. G. State Park.  About 100 acres of woods and plantings.  Photog friendly, too!  There is a nominal entrance fee, I don't recall how much.  (That's also where I shot my avatar Unicorn Praying Mantis - eating a Lyside Sulphur.)  They also have a small bird feed/water area, where Kiskadees, Altamira Orioles, Green Jays, and Clay-colored Thrushes are common.
