In hindsight, if I'd given myself more working distance at a longer focal length, I might have gotten more DOF - right?  Live and learn.

A good catch of a lovely pair. The background a little messy but given the difficulty of shooting mating dragonflies, I would be more than happy if this image is mine!

Lovely image, nice speculars in the background.
Actual DOF? It varies with aperture, focal length, and distance to subject (and other factors). I tried an online DOF calculator, and actual DOF was the same if you were twice as far away at 400mm than 200mm.
