Large Bee-fly
Bombylius major

I'm fairly confident on the i.d; certainly a member of the Bombyliidae, but not 100% on the species; taken in a (Chiricahua) Mountain canyon in extreme SE Arizona.  ID confirmation would be welcome.

Can't confirm the ID, but does look like it. Love these guys. Nicely captured.

Nice diagonal composition, great pose and wing position. I think you're on the right track with the ID; try posting at bugguide.net. There are dozens of species in that genus.

Hi

Great timing and fine image - I think the ID is in the right area, I could not narrow it done anymore though

All the best
Matthew
