This is an image of a Miraguama Palm sheath, the part of the plant that gives rises to the leaves.  The sheath is particularly complex on this species, and it is not shed, as it is on most palms.

The image, in part, was a study in focus stacking, and in this sense I think was successful -- the depth of field of the final image allows one to peer into the several layers of the sheath.  But, compositionally I wonder if it is too complicated to be effective, and would appreciate comments, particularly, on that question.

Excellent depth of field and detail. I like the composition and patterns as presented. You might be able to simplify it by getting a little closer and selecting parts of this frame. I see several possibilities.

Hi

Although I like this abstracted image I think Tom's suggestion of getting in a little closer is a good one; it would help simplify the edge areas and allow the pattern to dominate a bit more

All the best
Matthew
