Sydney Cardinal Fish Apogon limenus

Reasonably common of rocky reef dive sites around Sydney, these fish grow to 14cm but are usually quite a bit smaller when I see them  The male holds the eggs in his mouth till they hatch.  Taken at Shiprock a dive site on Port Hacking.

Hi

A fine shot of this little chap that rather reminds of fish I'd see as a kid in the topical tanks at school - no idea what they were though lol

Have a very merry festive break

Nice that you got the rosy coloration.
I think these Cardinals are mouth brooders; would be cool to capture one with a mouth full of eggs!
