I know that Tom Whelan is a big fan of the dogbane beetle. This is my take on a dogbane beetle (Chrysochus auratus) on the leaf of dogbane (Apocynum cannabinum). I would be interested to learn if anyone knows whether the object to the left of the beetle on the leaf is animal detritus or an insect disguised as detritus.

This is my first post on this forum.

It's true, I'm a dogbane beetle fan - and this is an excellent dogbane beetle scene, nice light, fine aperture choice. That object is beetle detritus - they are pretty messy. Welcome to the forum!
