I had hoped to post a full image of the damselfly showing the intricate veining on the wings & more of the metallic colour on the body but downsizing to the 800px lost quite a bit of the sharpness and detail.  So posted instead a tighter crop around head / thorax to try to retain some of the detail. The damselfly’s head is no more than 3 to 4mm across and just above it’s right eye is the shell/body casing of a micro-midge {didn’t notice with the naked eye when taking the image}.

Regarding downsizing any tips how best to retain sharpness/detail would be appreciated.

Hi Jonc, I am kind of new here and had the same issue, the best (and only) thing to do is to pay the annual fee and then you will be allowed to upload images up to 1280 of size and 1 megabyte, that is my best advise. In the other hand, your shot is wonderful, details are awesome!!!

Lovely image with superb detail of this beautiful damsel Jon.

Jeff makes a good point - and the exchange rate at the moment means we only pay around £27 GB Pounds a year in the UK. Just saying....
