Sponge Garden

Not entirely sure this is the right place for this, but seeing as how I post here quite a bit, thought I'd give it a run.  Be nice if one of the forums was also flagged as the place to post underwater images.

In any case this is a local dive site at the entrance to Botany Bay near Sydney, the rocks are covered with various sponges and soft coral and other encrusting life forms, often they have vaery well camouflaged animals like anglerfish and seahorses.   Larger image is here:  Sponge Garden

Fine composition of this underwater scene - underwater images are welcome in this forum, we get them from time to time.

Hi

Cool shot - and quite amazing how much life is present below the surface clinging to the seabed

Thanks for posting

All the best
Matthew

Chris: That's a lot of texture, color and variety in one frame! Works for me. 2 thumbs up. >=))>

A nice setting. Chris, as you get into more UW images you will find that there are so many more colors when you use a strobe. That top Finger sponge is probably a much deeper blue green. The orange would pop and the other sponges likely have some yellow.
Take an UW flashlight with you next dive to see more colors. That is a nice wide angle set up, go for the strobe!

thanks all, Stan, I'm quite aware of the colour loss, strobes are on the list, but I'm taking a step at a time having only just got my certification, entry and exit on shore dives with the camera is a challenge as well.
