I cannot get my new ACER F5-573T-50KY  Aspire 15 inch laptop to recognize the Dell Mono laser Printer P1500 that is directly attached to the laptop with a USB cable. Win 10 Devices and Device Manager sees it, but has assigned it to Unspecified. I have uninstalled it and then plugged it back in, but with the same results. I cannot figure out anyway to move it from Unspecified to Printers in device manager.

Going to Acer and Dell websites have not provided me with much help either. I have tried to download win 10 printer drivers for the Dell Personal Laser Printer P1500, but have not been able to locate any for win 10.  Some links take me to what looks like a generic driver site to update any needed driver, buy wants my money to download any drivers, and I am not sure the P1500 driver is there.

I have the original drivers CD that came with the printer. The drivers are probably for XP or Vista. I have the win 7 driver still on my old laptop. Would I benefit from trying to load any of these drivers to the Acer Aspire win 10 laptop?

Any suggestions as to the next steps I should take would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Joe

A driver for Windows 7 should work with Windows 10 - almost no reason it wouldn't. Try installing that.

Thanks for all of the replies. I copied the win 7 drivers from the old laptop and tried to execute them as best as I could that did not work. So I ended up buying a new Brother laser printer for $99.

Bummer, usually Win 7 drivers work.
