Please be advised that there are new drivers for the Epson Stylus Pro 4880.
The new driver is v8.66.

Best regards,

I already pointed out in my NSN post of April 20 (http://www.naturescapes.net/phpBB3/view ... 4&t=215893) that EPSON had recently released new drivers for their 48xx Stylus Pro printers. They are applicable with MAC OS 10.5.X-10.7.X. The new drivers are v8.64 and v8.66, replacing v6.11.

The download links are:

Epson 4800 (v8.64, 09/16/11:

Epson 4880 (v8.66, 02/17/12):

EPSON has not updated their WINDOWS drivers for the 38xx and 48xx series printers since 2007.

It's not Apple and Microsoft that release these drivers, it's Epson!

Quite right, EJ. That was dumb. I must have been getting sleepy. I've fixed the text.

Question is, who writes them?

Epson writes them. There hasn't been a need for an update on the Windows side since vista 64 came out since Win 7 is basically Vista 64 2.0.

Mac OS-X has undergone some major changes with Lion and now Mountain Lion necessitating a rewrite of the drivers.

That's why Epson has released mac drivers and not Win drivers.

Thanks for the helpful clarification.

I'm sure the printer manufacturers want to keep their driver algorithms secret.
