I've cleaned the nozzles (many times). All are working except MatteBlack. Nothing at all prints.
Is this bad (as in send in - bad) or is there something that can be done.

Thanks
Deb

Did you try the power cleaning cycle? I had problems with my re-furbished 3800 when I first got it. I tried many manual cleaning cycles to no avail, when I called Epson they had me do the power cleaning and all was good.

You might try to change out the matte black ink cartridge!

Thanks. Appreciate the suggestions.
Tried replacing the cartridge and didn't make a difference.
Just tried the power cleaning. And still nothing. All the other colors show fine. Nothing at all by the MatteBlack. :(

Are you sure - if the printer is set to use the Photo Black cartridge, it may not print the flat black in the test pattern because the printer can do one or the other, not both simultaneously. Try actually printing something on matte paper selecting the matte black ink.

I tried to print matte and nothing. When I run the nozzle check, thats the only box that doesn't show.
When I print (using RedRiver paper and their profiles) some of the black areas (I assume the black that is printing is from the other black cartridges) are either missing or purple cast.
My WesternGrebes look really strange.

Hmm, OK. Sounds like a severely clogged line then. It may need to be serviced. At least give Epson a cal. they are pretty good at tech support on professional printers. you should have a special number in the manual that goes to their more elite tech specialist rather than the number that people with non pro printers call.
