Photoshop CS5

Recently R2880, printing in CS5 stopped retaining ICC print profile.
When I go to print an image (Control P), the Print Profile box contains profile for “Double-sided Matte” paper rather than previously used profile. I can reset the desired profile and R2880 prints correctly.
When I re-open Photoshop and go to print, the Print Profile box contains the profile for “Double-sided Matte” paper.

How can I resolve this issue?

Also I downloaded and installed the latest driver from Epson, which was the same version on the computer. This did not correct the issue.

Thanks for your assistance.

If I remember correctly that is something that started with CS5. It doesn't maintain the selected print settings once you close PS, unlike the previous versions. As long as you keep PS open it should remember your previous settings.

Hi Randy,

The strange thing is over the last few years the print profile was retained (R2880 and CS5).
Not sure why this issue would occur now.

I'm not familiar with Photoshop settings but have you changed the printers preferences through the control panel? With most Epson printers it's control panel, right click on the printer, printing preferences, and set the preferences how you want them. Then the settings will "stick". If you just change the settings when printing through the normal print dialogue then the settings will not stick and you'll encounter your problem.

Hi Don,

Unfortunately the Epson 2880 printer profile cannot be set via the control panel.

I spoke with Epson support today and they advised the best way to address was to always check each setting every time you print. Operating system updates, etc can affect the ability of CS5 and the R2880 to retain the printer profile.

Well not exactly what I wanted to hear, but it is an easy to implement solution.

Thanks for your help.

Regards,

Marc

UPDATE

Andrew Rodney suggested I delete CS5 Preferences, and in fact his suggestion was a success!!
Print profile is retained.

Yes, resetting PS preferences is the #1 solution to billions & billions of cryptic Photoshop problems. If there was some way to make this a FAQ within PS itself, a substantial amount of frustration would be eliminated... not to mention a ton of posts on the 'net. :-)
