This is the sunset side of the image Steve posted a day or two ago. Taken in Baja Xmas 2001. I took the slide to my printer for a cibochrome image and he asked, "Is that ice or lava?" I said, "It's salt." He replied, "I thought so!" I kept a straight face. The print looks very nice on my living room wall, 36x45".

I know some are bothered by the centered horizon, but I'm not sure what I would change.

EOS 1v or 3, Sigma 15-30mm, Velvia, about 6 stops of ND grad filter. Evaluative metering, maybe minus 1/3 or 2/3?

Absolutely breathtaking...I even like the dark area at the right mid screen.
Shoot in RAW because memory is cheap, but memories are priceless.

I can imagine the stunning quality of a larger print! This is very intricate and intriguing with all the hot tones and contrasting salty shapes.

I don't mind the centered horizon. It's a beautiful image.

Wow, incredible colors! I like the composition and the centered horizon doesn't bother me a bit, maybe because the curves of the water draw my eyes more than the horizon.

Lillian,
I am glad you posted this. The sunset side of what has to be one of the most spectacular sunsets I have ever seen. I have to change the title of mine posted to the other side of sunset. AS I have said before, wonderful job. The water lines and reflections just add to the wonder of it all. Starting with this and ending with my "Other side of Sunset" , we were surrounded with splendor!

I can imagine the print is spectacular. I just love the line and pattern in this, the play of light and dark areas, the incredible sunset colors. WOW.

Holy smoke! Wild colors and a great S curve running from right to left. Bet the print is amazing. If you wanted to move the horizon off center, I think you could crop a bit of the dark from the top and make it more of a panorama but it also works just as it stands.

If the centered horizon bother you, a slight crop either on top or bottom would take care of that. Itrs a very nice photo with rich colors and a dramatic sky,
