Trees at Sunrise, Chincoteague NWR, VA

This was one morning last November at the Refuge. I made a similar shot with a group of geese flying across the sky that hangs in my home. Heather and I might return in a couple weeks after we get the new issue online.

Very nice. I would darken the top quarter of the shot just a bit to keep my eye from straying out of the shot.

You bird guys kill me. I can't shoot a bird to save my life.

Hey Greg,

I think the fact that most of the trees aren't silhouetted against the sky hurts this scene. I understand it may not have been possible, but IMO, they need to stand out more for this to really grab me. I like the sky a lot.

Cheers

Kelly, this was taken the day before the outing, at which you might recall it rained...;)

Carl, I am not sure what you mean by "most of the trees aren't silhouetted against the sky". Do you mean you can't see the sky between the trees? Can you please explain if you get a chance? :D

Hey Greg,

Sorry, I should have made myself clearer. What I meant was that only the tops of the trees are really silhouetted against that sky. Then they kind kind of get lost against the darker background at the bottom. By "most of the trees" I meant the larger portion of each tree isn't silhouetted. As I said, this may or may not have been possible, but it would certainly have strengthed the image, IMO. I'd also like to see more distinction between the base of the trees and the ground.

Howcome there are no birds in this image? :D

Cheers

Carl
