Here is a first day crescent moon of Rajab, the 7th month in the Islamic Lunar calendar, although it is a little old, about 30 hours old from the point of conjuction with the sun.

It also is a fine example of what is called "Earth Shine", the shadowed disk of the moon being made aparent from reflected light from the Earth shining back onto the moon.

Not only do I depict the moon in solitude, I was alone when I photographed it.

Youssef,

This is great. Very nice colors.

May I venture a guess that this was taken from Windy Hill?

Anders,

Good guess... but not this one. 8 times out of 10 I photograph the moon there, that is where I will be next Saturday evening for the new moon of Ramadan. I will be leading a group of I don't know how many up there to look for it.

This one was actually photographed at Pescadero State Beach.

This is stunning - absolutely outstanding use of negative space. Just phenomenal.

Just wonderful! I can't recall seeing too many moon photos that show the "eath shadow" so well. The colors are fantastic, and I think any effort to include more elements would distract.

Very nice. I find your signature on the bottom somewhat distracting in a simple photo like this.
