Shen-Hao 4x5, Fujinon-C 300mm, Velvia 100F

Taken south of Munising, MI on a crappy forest road.

Great composition but it looks washed out.

Looks like a gorgeous shot with great colors but needs some PS work - the contrast seems to be too low and there are some magenta and cyan color casts.

Ken, is this from the birch forest near Half Moon Lake? I haven't even begun to look at my stuff from that location. I'm still slowly working through my Porcupine Mts. images.

I agree with the previous remarks, this needs a little bit of PS work to remove the color cast (which is readily apparent on the birch trunks) and to saturate the colors a bit. Should be easily accomplished and, if you do the digital work, please repost this.

Very beautiful, Ken. That Velvia 100F sure scans magenta. I used it on my recent trip and it's a pain to correct for it.

Yep, version #2 is much better. Hmm, this looks familiar :) Just got my stuff yesterday...this same tree is featured in some of mine as well.

Dan, I think most of that magenta is from the dreaded Epson transparency adapter color cast. I notice it on Danny Burk's Epson scans, my scans from a 1640SU, even the Epson 3200 at my work has it. I'm not saying it's not there though.

I haven't noticed a cast on V100F 120 scans on the Polaroid Sprintscan 120.

Yup, I think this area had the best stands of trees in the area.

Lovely, Ken! I recall being set up next to you at that grouping of trees. You did an outstanding job with them, I hope mine are nearly as good (don't have my slides back yet).

Cheers,
Mark

I like this composition with the pine tree small and to the right. The second version looks much better color-wise.
