Our closest Galactic neighbour at only 2.5 million light years away.  So the light that landed on my camera's sensor left there 2.5 million years ago.  Imagine the civilizations and events that have come and gone over all those years. Our Milky Way Galaxy has about 200 Billion stars, and the Andromeda Galaxy has about 1 Trillion stars. So about 5 times as large.  And AFAWK, there are trillions of galaxies out there.  Boggles the mind!!

A stunning image, Tim! I have a book on the images taken from the Hubble Telescope, and I have to say that yours is on par with the Hubble's version. Certainly difficult to try and process the numbers associated with astronomy, as you stated. I'm sure everyone would like to know who or what, is out there!!

Wow- great shot and story. We are such tiny specks of dust here-how can all this be so?
