The Channels, Southwest Virginia

The Channels is an interesting geologic area in southwest Virginia. The site is located on the crest of Clinch Mountain. The Clinch Sandstone outcrops there and the weathering processes opened wide cracks between blocks of the sandstone. There is a maze of these fissures that one can walk through.

I've never seen anything like this- it is fascinating. Not sure I'd feel safe walking around there, but I suppose it's stable. I really like the geometry you've created with this view-almost an abstract.

interesting geology
exp was nicely handled.
Not sure I'd want to venture in there though....
