The breathtaking 14,411 foot stratovolcano Mount Rainier is the tallest mountain in Washington. Also known as 'Tacoma' or 'Tahoma', it is also the most glaciated peak in the lower 48 states.

The National park was America's fifth, established in 1899 by president William McKinley.

Impressive sight! I like the view through the trees and the slightly misty mood. I wonder if the glacier is melting, like everything else these days....

Thank you Cynthia! Rainier has about 26 glaciers and many snowfields, so I’m sure there’s lots of melting but also a huge amount of snowfall every winter too to even it out!

What a wonderful view!
I like how you divide the composition into different planes.

Thank you Mary! There was definitely some dodging and burning to give it some extra depth.

Thanks John! With so many classic comps from the area, it's always nice to grab something a little bit different!

Like in all your work I really think the overall composition is great. Between the depth and the placement between the pines, "Tacoma" couldn't look nicer.

A beautifully composed and presented image of this impressive view! Having enjoyed so much the landscapes you have posted here, I had a tour round your excellent website. I am very impressed with your work and your undoubted talents, Dean. Well Done!
