January 7, 2009, 3:49 pm. This is an HDR image from five exposures: Canon 5D, 24-105 f/4 @40mm, 1/50 sec., f/8, ISO: 200

I've been in the park two or three times in the winter. It's really a magical place in winter and spring. I only wish I could do it photographic justice.... but, alas, my earnest attempts are always falling short.

Here's the larger image:

Looks super cold. The image really conveys winter and the valley temperature inversion well.

Stunning perspective of this wonderful place, it really conveys a cold winter feeling.
I seem to hear the silence around me only disturbed by the slight rustle of the moving water.

I have not visited this iconic park but obviously have seen many photos of it. I like this photo, a refreshingly different perspective. I particularly appreciate the color in the water and the frost hanging in the valley bottom air you have captured so well. I feel your frustration in getting landscape photos that we are satisfied with, it isn't as easy as one might assume - just because the subject material is essentially static.

I love the way just looking at this lovely scene makes me almost catch my breath at the thought of that cold air, Mike! You have captured that winter feeling brilliantly.

I really like the dark and light contrasts, the soft mist , and the bit of moon showing. The reflection in the water is also lovely- I'd be proud of this one!
