On my way to the lodge (Crater Lake Lodge) in July of 2016 I stopped by Watchman Peak and did a quick climb to get the shots for this panorama. Did two other hikes with varying perspectives of the lake in the next two days but this one remains the iconic (if overdone) viewpoint. Still, it was a real treat to take in the view.

There is one obvious albeit very small man-made object in the picture but it's so relatively tiny I thought I'd post it here anyway. That object is the boat heading toward Wizard Island.

Here's my (now obligatory) larger image:

I don't think I've ever actually seen a ground based photo that takes in the entire lake. Nicely done. Clouds look a bit on the heavily processed and contrasty side for such a vast image.

E.J.,

Yes, the clouds/sky is/are overly processed. I chose to do that because I'm lazy and the "dehaze" slider in ACR works well most of the time. I have to add exposure sometimes and then that brings with it other "corrections" I have to make so .. you're right.

I'm not sure if I had my 7-14 f/2.8 lens with me at that time but I usually prefer creating panoramas from several (in this case nine) vertical exposures so I used my trusty 12-40.

Anyway, thanks for the comment.

Yes it is iconic, but still beautiful. Nice job.
