I really like the way the lake is framed by the trees and the cold colour.

A beautiful scene. I think cropping in from the left to the large tree is a more effective composition as it removes the messy part along the left edge that distracts and draws the eye away from the scene.

While I appreciate that E.J.'s suggestion gives a lovely frame to the view of the lake, I love your inclusion of that extra slice at the edge of the scene as I can see what looks like the path going off through the trees and along the edge of the lake, and this gets my curiosity going as I want to investigate where it leads. I really love this image as presented, Mike. Beautiful!
