Moraine Lake - Banff National Park, Alberta, Canada
EOS 1Ds, 24-70 @ 34mm, 1/320, f/11, .6 GND, ISO 100

Some of you may be familiar with my series of Canadian Rockies photos taken from 4 trips to that area in the last year. Here is one of Moraine Lake just a few days after the road to the lake opened. The lake is beginning to emerge from the grips of winter.

Another stunning shot E.J.. The colors look just unreal (in the good, "I have never seen anything like this first hand " way). The little clouds add a very interesting touch as well. 4 trips in one year- I am so jealous. I'd be thrilled make it there just once. :)

Simply stunning! The blue of the sky with the fethered clouds is so pleasing. The color of the lake is surreal...what is that aqua/turquoise? And the thawing snow with a few crack visible in the foreground...what a lovely scene.
Shoot in RAW because memory is cheap, but memories are priceless.

You're klling me with your images! I am SO envious. I know that this is your forum, but I now feel like a novice with a "brownie". This digital stuff is eating me alive.

Gorgeous - it's great overall, but I really like those nifty dappled clouds :)

FOUR trips? Sounds like you kinda like this place...

Wow, another stunner from your series!
The clouds really put this one over the top.

4 Trips in 1 year? I've been up there once in 10 years, and I live here!
I need to get out there more often.

EJ, WOW!! This is absolutely stunning. You have captured the beauty of this place so wonderfully. The colors are awesome, just as it looks in person. Just gorgeous...

Just a spectacular image, EJ. I think I like this better than the images from this area taken in the summer.

Stunning colors! What a great vista. Unless it wasn't possible I would like to see the entire curve of the open water on the RH side rather than having it cut off. If the water ran extensively to the right then I think you framed it just fine. Beautiful image.

There were a bunch of logs piled up over there that had washed out of the glacier otherwise I would have included the whole curve.

Hi Folks and EJ

I am a big fan of all of your mountain-scapes EJ and this one is up there for sure. :)

I really like the opening of the lake but reverse of the others find the clouds take away from the scene. They seem to tone down the over all scene. I must be more of a big fluffy cloud kinda guy.

Don't worry I still love your work

Oh, this is so cool. I like everything about it (except that it isn't mine :) ) especially what I perceive as a symmetry of the mountains.

E.J., this makes me want to be there RIGHT NOW! I love the turquoise curve and those sharp jagged peaks.

Very nice, EJ. I have not seen an image of this lake covered in snow before. The clouds add a lot of interest to the sky.

Fantastic shot E.J. Normally, great shots of Moraine Lake are due to the light on the mountains. But in this case, the slight shadow on the mountains helps to accentuate the color of the water and the shape of the ice. The cottonball sky really tops this one off!!

Absolutely gorgeous, E.J. I'm glad I found this site. You guys are doing a great job.

I enjoyed reading everyone's description of the sky. Down here in cornbread country we call this a buttermilk sky :D .
