A thin layer of ice formed over open Lake Huron on a cold March night.  I found this scene the next morning at a sandy beach down the road.  The water is shallow for a distance of 100 yards+, so the shadow of the ice crack could be seen for a good distance.

Wow! What a different type of image. I am glad I scrolled down to read your explanation. the shadow is cool and the clarity of the ice and water is really unusual. Nicely done.
