Dark Hollow Falls - Virginia
a7R III, 16-35mm @ 35mm, ISO 200, f/9, 1s
Like an idiot, I flew right into the path of Tropical Storm Michael - the same storm that wiped out the Florida Panhandle 18 hours before this picture was taken as Hurricane Michael.  2 hours after I took this, the storm hit Virginia with full force, rain the likes of which I have never seen, sustained winds at 50 MPH and wind gusts up to 80 MPH along the ridge tops of the Virginia Mountains stripping every leaf, downing trees, dropping the temperature by 40 degrees in an hour...

wow. wonderful autumn scene never to be seen again EJ. Beautifully executed. Hoping and expecting that you'll have many other images before that storm hit. Mind boggling what the weather can do and the changes and challenges it can cause on a base level. (looking at this beautiful scene is in complete contrast to what some have experienced and have had to deal with... TFS)

Beautiful scene. I can almost hear the sound of the falls cascading down over the rocks between the trees. From what you say, this must look very different now! Such extremes of weather this year.

It sounds like your timing was perfect.
Nice framing of the falls between the lichen covered rocks and the trees,

Very nice "flow" to this image. Been there a bunch of times but always just mistime the color.
Well done despite the elements.
