The smoke from the wildfires in the west is being brought to our area by high level winds.  So the intense pink/red sunrise/sunset can occur.  This was the most intense I have seen of the past 11 years living on the north shore Lake Huron in Michigan's Eastern Upper Peninsula.  This was taken from about 50 yards down our beach.

Gorgeous colors typical for fire. Terrible about the fire but it does sometimes make for incredible photo opportunities.

Amazing colors! Too bad they are caused by fire.

The sky is stunning. Did you get n opportunity to get lower down to the water level and try an exposure from there.?

I jumped to get to a rock surrounded by water and took the image from there.  I considered going into the water to get an image from a very low angle but I did not feel like getting all wet by the very cold water that evening. I knew it would have been a very good possibility.
