Watson Lake - Arizona
P1 XF-IQ3100, Mamiya 300mm (~200mm FF equiv), ISO 50, f/9, 1/60s
While testing out an absolute mint condition Mamiya AF APO 645 300mm f/4.5 IF lens at Watson Lake, thanks to KEH, to see if it would fulfill my medium format telephoto needs, the combination of sun and clouds put on this crazy study in light layers.  By the way, the verdict on the 300 is that, at least this copy is, bar none, the best medium format telephoto that I have used.  It's detail rendering, when coupled with the 101 megapixel sensor is beyond anything I have previously seen at long focal lengths - just stunning!  Yes I kept the lens and the price was incredible!

Nothing like a deal to make your photos look better. Seems to be a magenta cast to the sky

It was just a few minutes before sunset at 6500 feet - that cast is fairly common during that time at that elevation.

Love it!
Great colors, wonderful light.
Is the middle formation just bathed in shadow from the clouds or is it a different color naturally?
Is this near the Granite dells?

Yes it is Watson lake which is the official name of the area where the Granite Dells are.  As for how the layer was created, check out my title for the image :)  It was just what a cloud did and I thought it was cool.

Interesting to read the story with the photo. Love how nature's color makes the middle ground a different color. I would not have known otherwise. And your gear shows off nature beautifully as well. This looks 3-d and very sharp especially if viewed on the dark b/g.

Cool image!  It must be clicked on to best appreciate it fully. If not, the viewer is losing out.
Re: Magenta cast. I know it all too well at over 7000ft. It is very apparent at Bosque much of the time, as well.
