This is Pine Glades Lake in the Florida Everglades.
Captured with a Nikon D810, 24-70mm lens at F22 and 1.6 sec shutter.  ISO was 64.  A GND filter was used.

This is a beautiful sunset. The clouds and their reflections on the water together with the setting sun make this image.

Best Regards,

Roman :-)

This is beautiful.  I’m a real novice re: landscapes; that being said, I hope you’ll humor a couple of ignorant questions:
You used a gnd filter.
1) Why the hassle and expense when you could do the same in pp?  (It sure looks to me like you’re accomplished/adept at pp!)
2) I assume your gnd darkened from the horizon up?
3) if that’s the case, how did you deal w/ the non gnd’d reflection?

Thanks,

Sweet sunset.
May wish to slightly darken the reflection to balance the use of the grad.
Wish this was presented a bit larger to better appreciate.

Thanks so much for commenting.  You should shoot this lake the next time you are in south Florida.

Thanks,
Hi Craig
I'll be happy to answer your questions.
1.  Why the GND filter.  First, I always use a GND filter in my landscapes.  Scenes like this often have hotspots where I get the dreaded "blinkies" indicating a loss of information because areas are simply over exposed.  The GND filter ends this problem.  I return with an image that has not lost information in the brights so I have a better image to work with.  That is NOT to say I won't apply a graduated filter from Lightroom to improve my image.  I often do this.

2.  Yes the GND filter darkened from the horizon up.

3.  When the light is low (sunset) there is less glare.  If glare is an issue (in this photo it was not) then I put on a circular polarizer.

Hope this helps.

Sorry John, I'm a nonpaying member and thus my size is restricted so I can't post larger images.
I do appreciate you compliment on the photo.
