a6000 16-50mm 16mm f3.5 20 seconds ISO 1600  pushed 2.75 stops in LR

Star shots last night. The milky way is really dim and overpowered by the ambient light and the stars. I'm wondering if the clarity of the skies was degraded by all the contrails yesterday afternoon. They were dispersing widely and creating their own clouds. I used the relatively low ISO of 1600 and pushed the exposure +2.75 stops in postprocessing but it seems to bring out a lot of noise. I used incandescent light balance to make the images blue instead of the orange cast using auto white balance.

The a6000 sensor is relatively ISO invariant so pushing the exposure in post is not much different than just shooting at a high ISO to begin with for digital noise.

We've had geat weather for January. Probably mid 40s in the evening at 3500'. Not too bad for shooting but I don't know about standing out there trying to do star trails, :-)
