I have a couple of questions.  Where is the focus point?  I read that mirrorless cameras don't need a focus comp.  Nothing here is very sharp.  Also what causes the artifacts in the sky?
thanks!

The focus is wherever you put the AF sensor. If it is on the tree, it's likely that leaf movement during a nearly 5 second exposure caused softness - some of which is very evident. An IR converted camera, where the exposure would have been in fractions of a second would not have this problem. Additionally, with a 5s exposure, you need to be on a really secure platform. The artifacts in the sky look like noise - the a6000 can get a bit noisy at ISO 500 on solid colors. A bit of selective noise reduction on just the sky should improve that.

Thanks for the info. It was very windy and I tried to shoot in a calm spell. I used NR but maybe not enough thinking I didn't need much at ISO 500.

Actually the softness gives a neat dreamy feel to this one.

OR does generally make the image appear more noisy - mostly because in a monochrome shot our eye focuses on texture as there is no color for it to get distracted with.
