I totally love this.  One thing worth trying, if possible, would be to back up a bit and use a little longer lens which will compress the scene some - in other words, the foreground the same size but the waterfall a little bigger - just a thought if you get another chance and if the area allows it.

P.S. I'm an American that actually knows what wellies are :D  We just call them rubber boots  :mrgreen:
