Hiking the Adolf Munkel Weg near Val di Funes, South Tyrol, Italy.
A fresh snowfall in October from a couple of years back.

nicely seen John. The fresh coating of snow providing a proper wintery feel. Can almost feel the chill in the air

Nice view and well composed John.  I can't quite get my head around why the main part of the image appears to be black and white, while the sky is blue, or are my eyes deceiving me.........  :?

Thanks Carol. It IS a color image throughout, though the everGREENS sure do look black. I waited to shoot until the blue sky was able to make a brief and limited appearance.

Thanks John, as long as the trees do look black to you too, I thought for a minute there I was needing an eye test!  :)

Love this place. The image as posted is a bit subdued. the white point seems to be someplace in the light grays not at white which gives it a drab low contrast look. Would love to see this using the full spectrum available.

Thank you for your input E.J.! Will try to educate myself on white point post processing.
Your wonderful images from the Dolomites over the years on this forum made this a can't miss destination for me when visiting northern Italy. Got very lucky with the fresh snowfall during our 2 nights there.

Yes, was waiting and hoping and waiting and hoping ... but needed to continue on with the hike.
