I've been a bit of a night owl lately skipping sleep in favor of chasing stars. With the weather here in the Pacific Northwest being so wet this spring, the opportunities to take advantage of Milky Way season have been few and far between. On this night, I arrived about an hour before sunset in stormy conditions and watched the wind blow the clouds through with the sunset. Finally a clear night. Even though there was a narrow window between the rise of the Milky Way and the just-over-half-full moon, I managed to get a few shots off.
I've been having mixed results with image stacking, especially for night shots. Sometimes they work well, others, not so much. I wanted to add more images to this stack for noise reduction, but I began to lose clarity. This is a 4 image stack. Two for the foreground and two for the sky. Nikon D750 Nikon 14-24 2.8 ISO 6400 f/2.8 @14mm Sky-30 sec. Foreground-2 min. |
