Last year I began experimenting with night shots, particularly the Milky Way. What a set of challenges I would (and do) face, but totally worth it. I scouted this spot via google earth and used stellarium to figure out what time and which way to face. The foreground doesn't really do it for me, but lesson learned-don't show up in the dark for the first time. That being said, I thought it was cool with the meteor and the light pollution illuminating the fog on the right.

Thank you, Steve. I have so much fun shooting at night. Like a kid in a candy store.

Looking up at the night sky always reminds me just how insignificant we are in the overall scheme of things Jeff. I think you've done really well here and got a whole lot to enjoy in this single shot. Well done!

Thank you, Carol. I enjoy the solitude and peace I get  under the stars. Are stacked images allowed?

Really nicely done MW image!
I understand your comment about the f/g, but the tree itself is OK...yeah, best to scout the location in daylight first!
Yes, stacked images (for DOF, star trails, focus etc) are allowed

Thanks, John. I appreciate it. I'm thinking of entering this one in a contest. It will be the first contest I've ever entered.
