On our recent road-trip through Namibia, we couldn't resist also making our way to the now-famous Dead Vlei in the Namib desert.
I had been here before in 1995, but we didn't even know about this spot back then, and only visited the larger Sossusvlei.

The problem these days is that a place that is photographed as often as this can risk not feeling new and jawdropping on your first visit. Nevertheless, I was happy with some of the images I walked away with here. Some more thoughts: http://bit.ly/thosetrees

The orange dunes there are spectacular but you pulled off this B&W magnificently. Brilliant.

I think a B&W rendition is a good call, Morkel. But I think you're right, it's a location that we've been shown many times over. Still looks a wonderful place to visit and see for oneself.
Regards,

Des

Spectacular framing here. By far the best monochrome photo of Deadvlei I've seen.

Love it!
Again, best viewed against a dark b/g.

It takes a very special b/w landscape image to attract my attention- and this is one spectacular shot Morkel!

I love everything about this. Superb!
