(The View from the Spit.) Homer, Alaska

I decided to repost this image cropped to a panorama. Does this work better than this one?

Handheld Nikon D100, 300mm AFS, ISO 200, Aperture Priority, 1/80 @ F16. Leveled and cropped slightly.

Tony,

I haven't seen the 1st version, but I can say that this is very beatiful and dramatic.

Perhaps a bit soft due to the relatively slow speed?

anyway 8)

Like the way this one better shows the wonderful light, but I much prefer the first composition, to really put things in context and get a perspective of the majesty of the mountains. (With this crop, I'm left wanting a bit more at the top.)

I like it better this way. Wasn't this my crop suggestion?

It could have been. Did I make it to the bottom of the trees? I didn't actually look to see what was suggested. I remembered reading the suggestion about cropping it and several echos that might have agreed. So when I was playing with it, I checked some different aspect ratios to see where it would work. Then I needed to bring up the contrast because I cropped all the dark stuff.

Thanks for the suggestion.

I don't recall seeing the first one, so I can't compare.

I do like this--the colour is great--but I find myself wanting more. I think a bit more room on top and to the right would help it.

Tony, Nice crop, but I have to say that I prefer the first. Here the mountains seem to be stuck in mid-air, but in the first I see some of their "habitat." In the first, the foreground layers of water, trees and hills are nice.
