I don't get the line of light in the sky / land intersection...this was a added in post? To me it looks more odd than interesting.

The line is in my RAW file as well. I believe it is the clouds coming in? regardless... i see it is distracting.
I blended the sky a bit more here:

This looks like a spot I know on Saguaro Lake.

Interesting light on those saguaros.
Perhaps that line is just the sun ray coming in as it would appear to coincide with the angle of light

Thanks for showing the RAW file. I prefer it because it looks less "man made" to me. I have noticed very few straight lines in nature (like in the first image), they were apparently all assigned to the sun (light rays).
