Bristlecone Pine Late Afternoon

The bristlecone pine is one of this planet's oldest living things. Some are more than 4000 years old. They live in challenging conditions at high altitudes. Their twisted shapes come from being battered by winds for centuries.  The best location is in the Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest along the California/Nevada border and they are best photographed in the late afternoon.

The photo certainly shows the challenging conditions. Would love to see one taken further back to show off the high altitude. Love the colors!

I like how the tree is reaching for the clouds. This is pretty harsh light and it doesn't look like you used a polarizer. Would love to see this comp in softer light. >=))>

Cool pines and really cool clouds.
As noted, letdown by the harsh light though...
