Lago Pehoe & Cuernos del Paine - Parque Nacional Torres del Paine, Chile
D810, 20mm, ISO 125, 1/160, f/5.6

FIghting a 60MPH crosswind I hunkered up against a rock ledge on this high overlook from the Explora area of Torres del Paine to keep the camera from buffeting so that I could get a sharp shot.  This is also why I used a higher ISO and shutter speed than the D810's native ISO 64.  The lenticular stack in the upper right is the same as in other photos I have posted from this area although a couple of hours earlier in it's development.

For me, compositionally a little top right heavy. Nice to see crisp tonally rich B & W.
Thanks

E.J.: A place that's on my bucket list. Fantastic capture of the moment. I do like this wide comp and can also see one tightened up considerably by cropping the left side about 20% and even the bottom to eliminate most if not all of the strip of land on the bottom. Really nice conversion. >=))>

Sounds like y'all would like the vertical that I did that is essentially the right half of this frame and a little more on top better :D

EJ...you're killing me with those lenticulars!!! Love those clouds
Agree with DrBill as the clouds are the center of attraction here....but in saying that, I still like the wide view.
Seems slightly soft....it might just be my eyes...or the effects of that 60MPH wind...

Edit note...I just viewed this one full size by clicking on the image and note that it is in fact crisp....not soft. The NSN auto resize seems to have a negative effect.

Yes, B&W images especially need to be viewed by clicking on them. On a color image, our eye is primarily attracted to the color so we don't see the downsizing softening nearly as much. A B&W image is all about texture so when it's downsized by the forum software, we pick up on it a lot more.

I noticed it being soft and after reading all of the comments and I clicked on it and wow! Now I think I would like the wider version instead of a cropped version.

I like the composition as presented. Great detail in the foreground and the clouds really make this image!

Great image. I like the clouds upper right. To me they balance the detail of the rock mountain with an ethereal contrast to the sharp stones. Great powerful B&W.

This is one dramatic image. When on a dark background all the drama ones through. I like this composition a lot and I'll bet you this looks awesome printed th right way. Great shot.
