This is an old slide that I recently "discovered" in a drawer. I've been playing around with it, trying to recreate the dreamy effect that I remember from the morning I took this. I intentionally left it dark overall although there is some detail on the right that really doesn't show up at this size. Any opinions on whether or not I was successful? Does the crop work?

Thanks for all your help. Elan7e, 100-400, Provia, taken from my backyard.

Jenny, the backlighting really helped create a surreal mood here. The cypress almost has that translucent look of a double exposure. Very nice! :D

Agree, this is a stunning shot! The square format suits this very well!

I too think the crop worked. I'm glad you mentioned the right side - it does feel a little blank in this format - but if a larger version has some more texture in there, I'm very glad, since this is a great photo and solidifying the right side makes it even better.

very cool. Looks spooky. Nice photo. The reflections in the water really grab my attention.

Jenny, This has a great look and feel to it but I feel a bit "pinched in" by the crop, like there is more I could be seeing in this beautiful scene. This must be an awesome place to behold everyday. That water is so still and the reflection is very effective.

Very nice as a B+W, especially the reflection. It certainly does have a dreamy feel to it.

What a backyard!
